Zarina

Just as we were getting use to sponge baths, the hot water came back. A convenience we prefer to have!

This week we were able to close out our project with the Special Correctional Boarding School. You may remember that the Church was going to redo their library so that it was safer, orderly, and more effective in helping the kids gain access to the resources. The library looks very nice now and has a lot more space for the kids to use the resources even though it is in the same room. The Director of the school was very pleased with the outcome and always speaks very highly of the donations the Church has made to the school. Here are a couple of pictures of the new library.

We were also able to attend a celebration that was sponsored by one of our NGOs that does speech therapy and psychological work with handicapped children and their families. This celebration was in the park and the children had a good time. You may remember seeing a picture of us with a little girl, Zarina, who has Down’s Syndrome. She was at the celebration with her mother so I went over to say hello. They recognized me and Zarina wanted me to take her to the large trampoline that was set up for kids to be put in a harness and jump on it. Her mother had already told her no and so I think she was hoping I would take her there. Well, I took her there but did not put her on it and so soon she wanted to go back to Mom. I took a picture of her and her mother and then showed it to her and she was excited to see her Mom in the picture. I love that little girl!

At the beginning of the week we had a District meeting in our apartment with the Mission Pres. and his wife in attendance. Viviane fixed a nice lunch and we were edified by their teaching and encouragement. In the evening he gave a fireside on ‘Evidences of the Book of Mormon’. We had 10 people there plus the missionaries.

We continue to work on new humanitarian projects and are making slow but steady progress on our wheelchair project.

“Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey and share our love with friends and family. One day, each of us will run out of tomorrows. Let us not put off what is most important.” Thomas S. Monson

We love to hear from you ... so drop us an email and let us know how you are doing.

  1. Library looks good! And while I do enjoy your self done photos, DAD you really need to teach mom how to use your camera and have her start taking photos of you too! lol.
